Cool New Tool for PR Pros

By Angelique Rewers

Joining forces with your PR colleagues to pitch an idea for a feature story based on multiple sources and real-life examples can be a powerful strategy. After all, a trending story has more impact when you can prove that it's actually a trend. Right?

Plus, in today's shrinking newsroom, anything that takes some of the leg work off the reporter's shoulders is sure to get at least a second glance.

However, for independent PR pros, pulling off a pre-packaged trending story can be much more challenging. After all, we don't have colleagues within our department or agency that are ready-made pitching partners. Sure, we have our own personal networks that we can tap into. But a lot of pitches would require you to look beyond your immediate circle. So then what?

That's where Pitch with Me comes in. This new service is designed to help PR pros connect with each other to generate more effective pitches. It was created by Heather Whaling (@prtini on Twitter).

Of course, PR is a competitive business and you certainly don't want to get scooped. Fortunately, a key aspect of Pitch with Me is that it allows you to control the opportunity and how much information you reveal. For example, you can be specific about the resources you need, but vague about who and how you’re pitching.
